BELIZE – Volunteer Preceptors needed for 2017 – 2018:
Hillside International Health Clinic needs volunteer preceptors for multiple weeks in 2017 and 2018. This full time, year round clinic has a permanent clinic building in Eldridge, Belize about 6 miles from Punta Gorda where patients from surrounding villages are seen. Physical therapy and full pharmacy on-site. Also daily mobile clinics are taken to 17 more remote villages to provide the same services.
Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants can volunteer as preceptors for medical students, pharmacy, public health and PT students who do 4 week rotations at Hillside. These students take on an independent role in seeing patients at the clinic and on mobiles. They are exposed to the Belize Ministry of Health during activities at the hospital and through other prearranged cultural events.
Minimum time commitment for preceptors is 2 weeks and housing is available on campus for $100 per week and licensing fees are $100.
Belize is a small country where English is the main language spoken though Hillside provides translators for Kekchi, Spanish, Mopan and Creole speakers. Weekends are free to explore the country and there are many opportunities for snorkeling, diving, jungle walks, Mayan ruins.
Particular need for preceptors from May to October 2017. Please contact me if you are interested and read more about Hillside at our website. Hillside has no religious affiliation and has been active in the Toledo district for over 15 years.
